The nervous
system that
runs your
leadership
is the same
one running
your home.

I work at the level of that system — in the boardroom and at the dinner table. Both arenas. One operating level.

Same nervous

The Governing Insight

I spent ten years coaching high-performing executives. Every year, I watched the same pattern.

These were serious people — rigorous, self-aware, committed to growth in every arena their professional life demanded. They knew how to take feedback. They knew how to develop.

And then they went home.

The same patterns that drove their success — the intensity, the high standards, the tight grip on outcomes — stopped working. And because work still said they were winning, they retreated there.

What the research eventually made clear is that this is not a character problem. It is a nervous system problem. The autonomic patterns that limit the executive's leadership capacity and drive the parent's reactivity are the same patterns. Same system. Two arenas.

I built two bodies of work from that reckoning.
